“You are Amazing!” right? All of your friends say it. But how do you translate that to the job you want at your future company, without getting lost between the thousands of other job seekers, who are fishing for the same spot?
Hardhat Employers, often receive too many job applications, and will not be able to interview everyone. Your challenge is to make your application, stand out even before you get your foot in the door. Although getting the interview is your goal when seeking a job, the first of the job application process is also important.
Here are some of my tips for Construction Job Seekers who want to make a first good impression:
- DON’T WAIT FOR EMPLOYERS TO ADVERTISE VACANCIES
A bold proactive strategy could also pay off; I still receive many job applications, regretting that I don’t have openings for the ones whose personalities shine with potential.
- BE AWARE OF YOUR IMAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA,
This is the easiest way for employers to get a feel for who you are.
- YOU ARE YOUR OWN QUALITY-CONTROL CHAMPION
That means you should pay close attention to every step in the application process to ensure that your message is on target and relevant to what the employer is seeking,” says Dawn Rasmussen, president of Pathfinder Writing and Career Services.
The devil is in the details” and if you put effort into this first step, it will set a precedent for your future work ethic.
